How to choose a belt for egg collection at a poultry farm: tips for Ukrainian farmers

An egg collection belt is one of the key elements of a mechanized egg collection system. Its quality and properly selected parameters affect the integrity of the product, the speed of selection, and even reject rates. What should you pay attention to?

1. Belt material. The best option is polypropylene or polyester belts. They are durable, resistant to moisture and disinfectants, do not absorb odors, and do not deform at temperature extremes.
2. The width of the belt depends on the number of tiers of cages and the number of eggs that it will transport at the same time. For example, for standard multi-tier equipment, the optimal width is from 50 to 120 mm.
3. Surface structure. A smooth belt with minimal roughness reduces the risk of microcracks on the shell during the movement of eggs, and too slippery provokes clusters and their slipping.
4. UV resistance. Especially relevant for farms with open ventilation ducts or partially natural light.
5. Temperature resistance. The tape must withstand regular washing with hot water (up to 60-70°C) and disinfection without deformation.
6. Ease of replacement and installation. It is convenient when the tape has standard mounting dimensions and does not require complex dismantling of equipment for maintenance.

The shape of the perforations or ventilation holes on the tape can improve ventilation and reduce the accumulation of dust and dirt. This reduces the risk of egg contamination and makes the system easier to maintain.
