The peculiarity of laying hens is that they consume exactly the amount of feed that meets their metabolic needs, while broilers eat until they are completely satiated. This was reported by the magazine Nashe Ptakhivnytstvo.
Another important physiological feature of egg cross poultry is a longer intestine, which allows them to absorb nutrients from feed more efficiently, i.e., they digest fiber better than broilers.
These differences affect the formulation of diets for layers and broilers. The former can consume food selectively and peck out particles from loose feed. With age, selective consumption becomes more frequent.
To achieve high productivity on an extended egg-laying cycle of more than 100 weeks, it is very important to balance the cost of feed and quality.
