This type of drinker consists of a reservoir and a tray. The reservoir is filled with water and turned upside down, after which the water flows into the tray. Due to the vacuum in the container, the water level is kept at the same height, and when the birds drink the water, a new portion is gradually supplied. In this way, the drinker regulates the supply process itself.
It is convenient and easy to use, requiring neither electricity nor connection to a system. The poultry house is dry, and the birds are well fed. Water is not wasted because the birds drink as much as they need. It is also easy to maintain.

- Quails — for these small birds, it is better to choose several small drinkers with low trays (1-1.5 litres).
- Turkeys and ducks need 5-10 litre drinkers, and for adult ducks, it is better to use hanging or sturdy floor drinkers.
- Day-old chicks — you can use 1-2 litre drinkers with a low tray so that the chicks can easily reach the water.
Age of birds
- For day-old chicks and chicks up to 2 weeks old, small drinkers with low sides are best.
- For floor-reared birds, floor or hanging options are convenient.
- For free-range systems, stronger and larger drinkers are required, preferably with a capacity of 5 litres or more, so that the water does not run out quickly.
